Reindeer Fun Run Makes Major Contribution to Our Club

More than 12 years ago, Kate and David Petsolt were visiting Charleston. One morning during their trip, they were awoken by quite a commotion and discovered folks dashing through the streets. Some of these joggers were dressed as Christmas presents, while kids dressed like Santa Clause, dogs dressed like elves, and plenty of people sporting Reindeer antlers. After talking with several spectators, they discovered that they had stumbled upon Charleston’s Reindeer Run. Almost immediately, the Petsolt’s knew they wanted a similar run to happen in our community and the Reindeer Fun Run of Aberdeen, North Carolina was born!

Since that momentous trip to Charleston, the Petsolt’s, along with an incredible team of volunteers and sponsors, have cemented their place on Santa’s Nice List by hosting the Reindeer Fun Run in Aberdeen. Most recently, the 11th Annual Run on December 2nd, 2017 was a huge success. The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is pleased to announce that race organizers recently dropped off a $42,000 donation from the 11th Annual event to help support programs and services offered to its members each day after school and throughout the summer!

The Reindeer Fun Run routinely includes a 5k, 12k, kids’ Egg Nog Jog (1/2 mile) and plenty of food, fun, and games for the whole family. If you missed out on the fun in 2017, there is no need to fret! The 12th Annual Reindeer Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 2018, so be sure to mark your calendars now!

This event remains the single largest fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, donating over $300,000 since its inception in 2007. It is through the support and generosity of Kate & David Petsolt, their team, volunteers, participants, spectators, and of course sponsors, that the Reindeer Fun Run is a great event year in and year out!
