BGCS Board Selects New CEO
The Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills has selected Steve Kastner as their new Chief Executive Officer. Kastner most recently served as President and CEO of Trinity Health Senior Communities which owns or manages over 50 senior living communities serving over 30,000 residents.
The announcement comes after Dr. Fallon Brewington, the Club’s current CEO, accepted a position as Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Sandhills Community College. Under Dr. Brewington’s leadership, the Club stepped up to meet the needs of young people across Moore County when the pandemic forced the closure of schools and thus the closure of school cafeterias. In conjunction with Moore County Schools, the Club provided meals for youth and families during the height of the pandemic.
Kastner is familiar with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, as he served on the Board during his tenure as the President of St. Joseph of the Pines.
“It is truly an honor for me to have been selected to lead the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. The organization has a long and rich tradition in our community of enabling young people who need us most to reach their fullest potential”, Said Kastner.
Konni McMurray, Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors, shared, “We’re excited to welcome Steve Kastner as our new CEO. His wealth of experience will be a great asset to our organization. Steve was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Leading Age, a national trade organization that represents senior living organizations. He will be an outstanding addition to the team.”
The University of Notre Dame graduate earned a Master’s Degree in Administration and is a Fellow of the Larry Minnix Leadership Academy. Over the years, he has served on numerous boards, hospital systems, committees, and advisory bodies as an advocate for those served by non-profit organizations.
Kastner resides in Southern Pines with his wife, Michele. They have two adult children and three grandchildren. He enjoys hitting the greens on the weekend with friends.
“I am excited to work with the great team that is in place at Boys & Girls Club to directly impact the development of healthy lifestyles, character, and leadership development for our area’s youth” stated Kastner.
He will start as the organization’s new CEO on July 1.
