CEO Recap: Youth of the Year 2024

In late February, Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills named Kaydence Tate as our 2024 Youth of the Year during a star-studded ceremony in our large gymnasium. She accepted the honor before an audience of more than 250 people, our largest crowd ever for the annual event. The ceremony also featured a special performance of the pledge of allegiance and code of conduct by our youth at the Logan-Blake club. The Youth of the Year is a national program that promotes service to the club, community and family; academic success, strong moral character, life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The program is also a tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities. Kaydence has an uplifting and encouraging journey as a club member and her story was filled with confidence and passion for the future. I know she will empower kids from across our four clubs to go after their dreams and create a plan for the future. In addition, the award comes with a $1,000 college scholarship.

We are incredibly proud of Kaydence and all our other members that participated in the competition. Of the course the event could not have been made possible without the many sponsors, volunteers and staff that made the evening memorable. We especially want to thank our Building Great Futures partner, Forest Creek and Mr. David Dew, Chief Operating Officer.

We remain more committed than ever to helping kids and teens become the next generation of leaders and problem-solvers. None of this would have been possible without your generous support.
