The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is proud to announce the arrival of our brand-new 14-passenger van, a game-changer for our Club Members and their families. This incredible milestone was made possible through the unwavering support of our community, including a generous donation from Aaron Cooper and Cooper Ford, as well as the amazing contributions from attendees at our Youth of the Year event.
At this year’s Youth of the Year event in February, we raised $35,000 to address a pressing need for safe, reliable transportation for our Logan-Blake Unit on Highway 5 in Pinehurst. Many children from Pinehurst Elementary faced challenges getting to our center due to a shortage of school bus drivers in Moore County. While we had two used school buses, we lacked volunteers with the required commercial driver’s licenses to operate them. This left many children without access to the transformative programs and support our Club offers.
Initially, we planned to purchase a pre-owned vehicle, but thanks to Aaron Cooper and the team at Cooper Ford, we were able to secure something beyond our dreams. Cooper Ford had a brand-new van on hand — initially ordered for another customer — and generously worked with us to bridge the financial gap. Their extraordinary support allowed us to drive away with a state-of-the-art van tailored to meet our needs.
“This is the first time the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills has ever had a brand-new vehicle,” shared Megan Keating, our director of development. “Thanks to Aaron Cooper and the generosity of our donors, this van will make a lasting impact on the lives of our kids and their families.”
The van, wrapped with the Boys & Girls Club branding and Cooper Ford’s logo, has already brought smiles to the faces of our Club Members, who’ve noticed everything from the sleek design to the signature “new car smell.” More importantly, it provides a safe, stylish, and reliable way for children to get to our Logan-Blake Unit, ensuring they can participate in our programs and build a brighter future.
This milestone exemplifies the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together. With the new van now in operation, the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills is excited to safely transport children from Pinehurst Elementary to the Logan-Blake Unit, offering their families peace of mind and their kids the opportunity to thrive.
