My name is Princess Threadgill, a former Club kid and now the proud Site Director of the Sandhills Community College Boys & Girls Club Unit. I’ve been with the Boys & Girls Club organization for nearly three years, and my passion has always been creating a safe, encouraging space where kids can thrive. Some of my favorite memories include seeing the kids smile and laugh, receiving their warm hugs, watching them light up with excitement for events and activities, and witnessing the pride on their faces when their grades improve—especially knowing I was able to sit down and help them reach those goals. Outside of work, I enjoy shopping and spending quality time with my family, which helps me stay refreshed and ready to give my best each day at the Club.
Our club opened its doors in 2022. It began in a single small room, serving around 30 members daily. Today, we’ve grown to welcome an average of 60 kids each day. Our members enjoy a wide variety of engaging activities including arts and crafts, fun games, exciting field trips, and enrichment programs. We are fortunate to partner with various departments at Sandhills Community College, including athletics, STEM, and automotive, which provides our youth with unique experiences and exposure to future career paths.
This unit was made possible through the support of Sandhills Community College, Dr. John Dempsey, and the Board of Trustees. Their dedication helped bring this vision to life—providing affordable, on-campus childcare for students pursuing their education. To further support families, we also offer extended hours for college students attending night classes, with care available until 9:00 PM. We currently serve youth in kindergarten through 5th grade.
